The "Help-A-Kid SOAR" Challenge

07 06-10_Camp_Aranzazu_061This part of Shindig helps provide programming to the 50 Mission Road children and 15 community children with developmental disabilities.

SOAR & MORE encompasses the after-school and summer programming needed to keep our kiddos moving forward down the road to independence.

We pride ourselves on a wonderful children's program that not only reaches the children living in our homes, but also touches the lives of dozens of other youth in the community.  The Program is called SOAR & MORE.  SOAR (Summer Outreach and Recreation) is an invaluable program which keeps the children engaged in arts & crafts, academics, life-skills, recreation, spiritual growth, and community service. The program is so valuable, we added MORE, the after school component that runs during the school year.  SOAR & MORE is about teaching our children how to maximize their potential in today’s world, not succumb to their limitations! We give them the tools to become participators in and contributors to society.

For the kiddos at Mission Road, there is no going to grandma’s house, no family vacations, or sleeping over with friends.  The absolute highlight of the summer is camp!  A week long adventure gives medically fragile children the experience of a lifetime. The SOAR and More programs are completely funded through private donations; the State of Texas does not pay for these enrichment programs which cost $170,000 annually.

07 06-10_Camp_Aranzazu_160On the night of our 32nd Annual Grand Western Shindig, our
wonderful supporters will raise their bidding paddles high to
help Mission Road fully fund the program for the entire year.

100% of your gift will go directly toward funding the after-school and summer programming for the children who depend on Mission Road.
